Why is the United Nations ignoring serious human rights violations in the Sudan, Guinea, and Sri Lanka?

Because the UN is a completely useless organization that stands only to gain more and more power for itself and appease third world dictators around the world.

One way to improve the United States would be to remove ourselves and all of our aid from the UN and make them get off our land.

Because it is in the nature of large bureaucratic, ineffectual and completely useless Organizations such as the U.N. to TALK a good game, because talk is cheap and does nothing to resolve the problem. Besides, it’s very difficult for a group consisting of 3rd world Dictators, Despots, Communists and Republics to agree on ANYTHING, much less something as worthwhile as helping out a nation in need when there is no benefit to themselves. That’s why the U.N. is such a worthless institution, a new world body needs to be formed by nations who’s political, social and economic goals are the same, call it something like the Global Republic’s Organization. That’s just my 3 cents worth.

Dear Friends, Even though being a cricket forum...i hope we have hearts...which still beats for love and care.... what so ever may be the race we belongs to ....what so ever may be the language we speak, basically we are human beings. we should support where humanity is crushed by those who are in power. India is the country which has lot of sentiments and human values. India is the country which looking for a permanent position in UN. i believe that India believes in Humanity. as the country is claiming that world's largest demacracy, by these India have lot credibility and respect by the world. When a goverment of country which dare to kill 100,000 citizens of its own...with chemical weapons.. In this situation country like india should not contemplate weather SL is importing much from india... Humanity should be the first policy for all countries than earning money than external affairs. countries should be straight atleast on human rights. more over in SL it was not merely human rights violations it was Genocide. If countries start genociding the minorities only beacuse they are minority ...then we are we heading? if you can spend time to watch cricket the whole day....why dont we spend some time for humanity? what ever may be the cost to India .....i hope India will be firm in its position... Indian economy is not dependent on SL imports.

It is not so much that the United Nations is ignoring this situation, but the lack of political will from countries such as the United States who make up the United Nations.

What about China, North Korea and Iran?
The reason that the U. N. is giving it to the U.S.A. is because of the hatred toward them and the fact that not many people think that the U.N. has been doing its job of trying to keep the peace. Instead they tell countries that are trying to save themselves from constant bombardment they are the ones at fault!

Your right. I thought Kofi Annan finger pointing at the USA was way out of line. Ban Ki-moon of South Korea has his work cut out for him I'm hoping he will do something. I've heard alot of talk about corruption in the UN. I firmly believe if the head is sick it just trickles on down. My eyes and hopes are on Ban Ki-moon now.
