Why dont people proofread their questions and answers before they submit them. I'm tired of translating bad grammar and poor english.

I'm not saying everyone is perfect but to submit a long answer without any punctuations, come on now.

Anyone who put's their e-mail addy on here is asking to be spammed big time. I notice you don't give your email. You missed the apostrophe in "here's" in your first paragraph and "it's" in your second paragraph. It should say "your" and not "youre" (sic) in paragraph two. "Proof read" is two words You spelled "applied" wrongly. Your caps/shift key seems to be broken too. Here is what you ought to have written: Good Day. I have an offer to make to you. I am endeavouring, for a second time. to gain entrance into a high school. I am required to send an e-mail to the principal and am seeking someone who would be prepared to proof read this for me. The e-mail itself is too lengthy to reproduce here. However, if you would be kind enough to provide your e-mail address, I will forward you the said text. Thank you in advance for your kindness. The best answer will receive ten points. This is my promise to you. (Applesauce - below - is quite right - it was a careless slip of the finger on my part and completely unforgivable. It would be terribly crass to blame my new keyboard. Therefore, I shall just put my hands up and take the justifiable criticism like a man)

I agree with you. There is nothing worse than having to spend your time trying to understand the message that has been sent or put across. SMS is the worst. Punctuation, people!!!

It only takes a few more minutes out of their day yet it saves so much confusion.

I believe that it is the lazy or ignorant people that are doing it the most. With answers, it is a question of speed. The faster they type and respond, the higher up on the list they are. Fast equals sloppy for most people.

Everyday my grammar gets worse because I am used to the garbage on the internet.

Though, have you noticed the spell check only works for the question not the details when you submit a question?

I agree 110%--there are so many people on Y!A that misspell and use horrible grammar. If they just read what they wrote before submitting it they'd realize how horrible it sounds.

"I already done did that." Is one of my favorites. I cannot believe someone actually thinks that is correct!

“You spelt that wrong."--it's supposed to be spelled. It’s a word but it’s describing wheat!

"You aren't suppost to do that." It's spelled supposed. It just irritates me to no end!

These people actually want to be taken seriously too. They talk about abortion, CPS, and serious things. It's like, how can I take a person who is illiterate seriously?

Anyway, I totally agree. We all make mistakes but some people just don't need to be talking about things if they have no clue how to even spell them or word them correctly.

Well, whenever you are asking a question, you don't have the option of spell checking. Some people are also in such a worried frenzy they are typing out of control. If you don't like it, then don't bother with answering the questions. I would look at it as a free 2 points if you wanted them.

It may not be a matter of proof-reading in as much as it is a lack of knowledge or spelling/grammar overall. Can't proof-read something if you don't know if it is right/wrong!!

I agree, as Sports Editor for my college paper and staff writer for a community paper, it is gutwrenching! Its so ridiculous at times, that I don't even read some of them, its like they turn me off.
