In Def Leppard songs like "Pour some sugar on me", the background voices have like a whispery yell. What is that called, and how do i get it?

I thought that effect was supposed to represent a crowd chanting or yelling along with the lyrics. Or at least that's what it sounded like to me. Sorry haven't listened to Def Leppard since the 80's and my albums are in storage.

It's called a harmonizer. Robert Plant used it with Led Zep in the 70's

Just practice, your voice has abilities you don't realize.

Push from your stomach when singing, you can extend your range both ways.
