If you need 4% over all (of 100%), you need to get 40% of the final test (worth 10%)

If the final is worth 10% of the grade, the class grade is worth 90% of the grade. Then, let x be the necessary grade on the final

(0.9)(.75) + (0.1)x = 0.79

Solve for x
x = 1.15 .. that is, 115%. Are you sure your numbers are correct?

If you get 100% on the final, you will get a 81.1% in the class. It's the best one can do going into the final with a 75%.

75*.9+.1*x=79

67.5+.1x=79

.1x=11.5

x=115

I thought so. I only did the problem because it seemed that need help! had gotten the wrong answer, since she got 115 and others got 11.5 . I was right to suspect, she did it right and the others were wrong ^_^ She's really smart.. So ya the answer's whatever she said.
