There are many great hotels at many different prices. I suggest Gran Caribe Real, RIU Cancun, Flamingo, or Omni....I guess in that particular order. Depends on what you want to do. Gran Caribe Real is my favorite...nice rooms....nice beach....great pool and activities.....good food and drinks.......and within walking distance to Margaritaville and Pat O'Briens (my favorite spots). Flamingo is also good.....across the street from Margaritaville. RIU Cancun is a nice hotel....within walking distance to CoCo Bongo, The City, Dady O's, Bulldog Cafe, Studio Seven, all the hot spot clubs. I suggest you go to CoCo Bongo for sure. Senor Frogs is also within walking distance....as well as Carlos and Charleys. Just remember it is just a short bus ride from Gran Caribe Real and Flamingo to these spots as well. Omni is a good hotel, but a bit away from the action.....not too far. You just need to make sure of the location of the hotel.....you don't want too far South...........get online and pull up Cancun hotel zone map and check the location. The clubs are in the 7........you will be able to tell on the map. My first choice would be Gran Caribe Real. Have fun...........much to do and little time to do it.

I went and I stayed at the Hilton hotel. It's really cool, from the sides, it's in the shape of an X. It has a spa, golf coarse is acroos the street, has like 7 or 8 different pools combined together. The view from the balcony is awesome! The beach is in front of the hotel, and the activities are parasaling, and downtown at night is awesome. All colorfull and awake. There is snorkeling in Xel-Ha, about an hour an 1/2 south of Cancun. There is also Scuba Diving, and the colors of the fish are pretty. You'll have fun when you go. Enjoy Cancun!

I went to Cancun in May and stayed at the Gran Melia Cancun. It is on the strip. The beach is beautiful, the hotel is beautiful and very reasonably priced ($113/night). The staff is also helpful and friendly. You can find it at www.solmelia.com and also look at the reviews at yahoo's travel guide. The price may be different for January. I did not purchase a package so I am unsure whether they offer all-inclusive. When I visit Cancun again, I will definitely stay there again.

I went to Tulum which is about an hour south of Cancun. If you just want to get drunk at clubs, stay in Cancun. If you want a beautiful beach and amazing snorkeling, and a great hotel, go to Dreams Tulum. Great food. Nice rooms. No other hotels for a long way on either side. It's great.

We stayed at Secrets Capri, which was between Cancun and Tulum. It was a beautiful hotel with lots of restaurant choice and no children running around. The beach was also amazing. It is also a short cab ride to Playa del Carmen, which has some shopping and bars. I loved it and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to go back.

Go to applevacations and click on Mexico, then Cancun.
They will provide you with a partial list of hotels and each will contain so many apples, from 2 to 6, with 6 as the highest.
Try Hotels.com, or Orbitz. They do the same thing, but use stars instead of apples.
All three have a list of amenities, prices, maps, etc.
