if it doesn't have a dvision sign, it usually means to divide. i learned this last week.

r(4.8)=6
r*4.8=6

to do this u have to find the varible
to find the varible, u take off all of the numbers after the varible
by doing that, u have to do the opposite orration that is before or after the variable.

r*4.8 turns into
r/4.8=6
then u have to in your case divide 4.8 by 4.8 and 6 by 4.8
by doing that you've got your answer

r/4.8= 6
/ 4.8 4.8
_____________
r= 1.25

hope u understand

I'm assuming you mean "r divided by 4.8 equals 6"?
Most higher mathematics use a backslash "/" to denote division. In this case you could write the equation as r/4.8=6

This means r, divided into 4.8 pieces (4 even pieces and one more four fifths the size of the rest) equals 6. So, since 6 is one of these 4.8 pieces, you know that if you have 6, 4.8 times, it will equal r. Another way to say this is "6 times (multiplied by) 4.8 equals r"

To write this as an equation we show 6*4.8=r

Now, just get a calculator or do it mentally and you find that r=28.8

r / 4.8 = 6
* 4.8 = * 4.8
r = 28.8

(i used / as the division sign and * as the multiplication sign)
basically, multiply 4.8 with 6...and ull get 28.8

i kinda use the same strategy u use to solve inequalities on this...

Altogether she has 575 cents, so 575 = 25x + 5(35-x) 575 = 25x + 100 seventy 5 - 5x 575-100 seventy 5 = 20x x = four hundred/20 = 20 She has 20 quarters and 15 nickels. 2) enable x = the style of nickels, making 40 4-x the style of pennies . the style of nickels (x) is two more advantageous than two times the style of pennies 2(40 4-x) x = 2(40 4-x) + 2 x = 88 - 2x + 2 3x = ninety x = 30 30 nickels and 14 pennies 3) call the style od nickels x. r / 4.8 = 6

So you have to multiply 6 * 4.8 to solve for r.

r = 28.8

You can check it by plugging r back in. 28.8/4.8 = 6.

don't you just multiply 4.8 to 6 to get rid of the denomenator so then "r" is left alone and that is your aswer. so r=28.8 i think
