I am 36 weeks pregnant the doctors say that i am 60% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated. I am hoping to have this baby before the end of the year. I have been in the hospital 4 times in the last 2 weeks with contractions that are around 6 minutes apart or less. 3 of the 4 times they gave me trebudeline to stop the labor. Now I want to get labor started, I am having severe pain since the baby is in the canal, and have always had hip problems so that makes it worse. Thanks for any help. Also if anyone knows a way to help induce labor let me know. Thanks

i think i need to explain this stuff. i want the information on the induction for around 38 weeks, not right now. I am doing this all alone and if there is any way to have her before the end of the year so that i can get financial aid for school next year, otherwise there is no way i will be able to afford the Nursing program here in town. anywho thanks for all the answers so far.

You really don't want the baby to come early. Even a month can make things difficult for the breathing and eating. The baby is not in the canal, if that were the case you would be dilated to 10 and ready to give birth since baby has to get past the cervix to go into the canal. What has happened is the baby has probably dropped, which means sits down lower getting ready. I think that happened about 3 weeks before delivery in both my kids. If your doctor has given you the OK to walk, do that. I walked the mall every day. They say that helps once the baby has settled head down against the cervix. The baby's head rubbing makes your body give off a chemical which stimulates labor if your ready.

My girlfriend is 39 weeks pregnant and is impatient as ever she has been trying to have the baby for the last 4 weeks she is in so much pain but when she went in to the doctor at 37 weeks the did a sonogram b/c she was contracting every 4 minuets and they said if she went into labor the baby would be very fussy and sick even though she is going to breast feed b/c he was only 5 and a half pounds. They also said that the last month the normal baby gains 2 to 2 and 1/2 pounds. I know you want it to be over but just think if it happens now let it be because god wants it to happen not you!

at 36 weeks, you obviously very close and the baby would probably still be as healthy, but I've heard that the lungs can still not be completly developed before like 38 or 39. I would wait as long as possible. But if your having contractions, that are not braxton hicks, espically that your 60% effaced, I'm sure you'll get to meet he/she by the end of the year!

But then again I'm not a doctor nor your baby lol.

First off.... CONGRATS! Okay now that I have that out.... I started labor at 36 weeks also, but please for your child's sake, wait at least another two weeks. It isn't until the final 4 weeks that the lungs fully mature and develop. The Doc's put me on bed rest for two weeks and gave the the trebudeline also to keep me from going into labor. I had about the same problems that you did, except I was 6 cm dialated and 90 % effaced! After the two weeks they let me off bed rest and said whenever he decides to come out, he will! My midwife told me to roll my nipples to help release hormones to start my labor, and it did work! I was hurting so much in my pelvis and hips also that I could barely walk more than 5 minutes at a time. Basically to do this, roll your nipple repeatedly between two fingers for about 10 to 20 minutes at a time. It will help stimulate your milk to come in, and also get labor going! But please for your babies sake wait another week or two before you do this, let those precious lungs develop all the way! Good luck to you!

Girl.. u got 4 weeks to go.. they stopped the labor cuz it really isnt time to have the baby yet. The baby puts on the most of his/ her weight on in the last month. Please just be patient, ur baby will be here before u know it!

Oh, maybe you can stick it out till Christmas day! That is my daughter's birthday, and I think that is really special! Good luck. As far as helping to induce, you need to have a really GOOD orgasam, that will bring on contractions really quick, espically if you are already dilated.

I've heard that good late term sex is not unheard of to break the water and initiate labor.Tell your husband he will have to oblige or wait a month to 6 weeks after giving birth afterwards. It's more fun than going horseback riding.

My oldest was born at 35 weeks and had respiratory distress syndrome and had to spend 5 days in the hospital..while your baby may be fine, why risk it...let your baby come when it is time. they couldn't stop mine from coming due to PROM, and it was awful having to leave him in the hospital while I went home!

I will not assist in the induction of a PRETERM baby, and I hope nobody else here will either.

If you want to be stupid you can find the information yourself.

they will not induce you unless there is a problem. I would just try to relax, you will have him soon enough. They just want you to have a healthy baby and I think that's all that should matter.
