there is being made fun of, and then their is being humiliated.
there is a difference sweetie. and as much as you might like the name...children are VERY cruel. i agree the name is unique and different and if it had not been used in that movie it would be an accepted name...but your child will have to go through his WHOLE life being teased, it might cause trama for him. he might resent you for naming him that.
and adults are no better...so later in life even, he might be hounded.

you can have a unique name without going "super out there".
kids even make fun of NORMAL names, so can you imagine with THIS name?

i don't think it's a good idea.

I am not up on my Star Wars trivia but didn't Anikin become Darth Vader? Regardless of that naming your son after a movie makes you sound nuts. In a way it is like those people that name their kids ESPN after the cable station. Your child will thank you if you don't. Maybe your child will hate the movie?

Honestly, I don't think its good for a boy. It sounds like it derives from Anika, a girl's name. You could try to choose a common name, that's pronounced easily, has a nice meaning, and is appropriate for the gender. Here are great names but, they're only suggestions.

Boy Names: Chris, James, Jeff, John, Riley, Chad, Austin, Taylor, Tyler, Brett, Michael, David, Sean, Matthew, Ben, Adam, Tom, Andrew, Peter, Eddie, Richard, Eric, Kevin, Justin, Josh, Aaron, Jeremy, Philip, Jim, Ryan, Scott, Nathan, Dean, Daniel, Trevor, Jack, Neil, Julian, Ace, Patrick, Jason, Charles, Robert, Jake, Mark, Daniel, William, Sam, Caleb, Paul, Garett...

He'll get teased a little, but probably not relentlessly. I'd really advise against using the nickname Anni, like in the movie, unless you want to make him miserable.

Kids named after Star Wars characters is not all that uncommon. Go to a sci-fi convention and you'll meet kids named Luke, Leia, Anakin (the official spelling), Han, Amidala, Lando, etc. I know a couple who named their kids Anakin and Mara Jade (Luke's wife in the post-continuity novels). Good luck!

When I was a probation officer, I met most of the Toyotas... girls named Cressida, Corona, Cellica, Tercel. Never met a T-100 or a Tundra yet.

On the TV show "Who wants to be a Star?" (I think that was the name) Ed McMahon once could not bring himself to introduce a model, because of her name, so he had her introduce herself. She was 21 years old (so by then, someone HAD to have told her) and seemed so proud of her name.

"Yes, I have a special name, it's French. My name is Bidet.".....

Don't do it. Kids will call him all the names from Star Wars. "Obie", "Chewy"....

I wanted to name My son Dartanian ( not sure how to spell it now, but one of the 3 musketeers) everyone said I was mad so I went with Daniel instead. He is 24 now and recently we were talking about names and I told him what his name could have been. He was gutted, saying that he would have loved it...........so if you really like it, go for it

Listen....kids will tease anyways!!!!!
The name is cool.....and i dont think that your childs generation will know much about "star wars " anyway.
Its not an AWESOME name, but ive heard worse....its different. So, if you really like it , do it. Like I said, if his name is John, kids will always have another excuse to make fun of him,its always going to happen. If your pretty they will critizise how you talk, if your ugly; your nose.......so do what you want.!Be happy..enjoy your child and his name(that you like).Other people will like it too.

That's too weird a name.

Go for Anthony, at least he won't be made fun of with that name.
