Because the new republic was young and delicate, George Washington was probably as apartisan a politician as it is possible to be; he was a uniting figure who was one of the few potential first presidents acceptable to all.

He was neither he was a Federalist. Look up www.history.com and type in the search box George Washington. Much quicker and a more accurate understanding of the party system back then. And Washington originally was a Brit, so you will have to understand his views with the Federalists vs. Republic, and moreover politicians, he was a General and did not want to be in politics either.

He was not a member of any party. He believed the creation of a party system would only help divide the country. When other people say he was a Whig or a Federalist they are referring to the groups that his ideas and policies were in line with. He himself was not a member.

He was the hero of the Federalist Party. Which became the Democratic-Republican Party and eventually was called the Republican Party but its not the same Republican Party as today. He was devoted to Republicanism.

Well if you mean George Wastington, he didn't have a party, because there wern't any at the time. The didn't have them until he left the presidency.

he had a party, i believe there were other parties back then, he was a "whig" you may look it up on wikipedia.
