The club teams from each of FIFA's six associations, who win their respective association's championship, qualify for the
"club world cup."
Barcelona won the Champion's League, and thus represent UEFA.
Internacional de Porto Alegre won the Copa Libertadores and represent CONMEBOL, and so on.
Until 2 years ago, this tournament was called the "Intercontinental Cup" , and it was just a duel between the European and S. American club champs. But FIFA saw a chance to make more money, and we now have yet another meaningless tournament, since the final always comes down to Europe v S. America - like this Sunday's Barca v Inter.
