Have you ever pumped and stored your milk in the fridge for a while? If you have, you know that it gets this thick layer at the top which is fat. Breast milk has fat in it for brain development and the stuff left on the baby's tongue is pretty much milk fat.

Anywho. You technically don't HAVE to do something about it b/c it being on the tongue won't hurt the baby, but try getting a baby toothbrush. (Unless it's thrush and doesn't come off, then take the baby to a doctor.) They have the finger toothbrush sets and you can start brushing there gums...this way, they will become used to having their "teeth" brushed and they will get used to it in their mouth. This way, you could swipe it over there tongue too. This is important to the development of baby teeth and adult teeth. It's never too early to start promoting good oral health!!!

This could be one of 2 things and there is a very easy way to know which one it is. If it is formula then you will be able to wipe all of it away. If it a thrush, a fungal infection of the mouth, then you cannot wipe it away and it will also appear on the sides of the babies mouth when he opens it or the roof of the mouth. If it is thrush you need to see your doctor because the baby and you need to be treated with medications, but don't worry we see this all the time.

Take a damp wash cloth and wipe the inside of the babys mouth 2-3 times a day so that it don't build up and get an infection.

If it is patchy looking and it doesnt come off then it is thrush and you should call your doctor so they can call in a prescription for it. Other than that, I dont think it would be anything to worry about. If it is thrush, that means your baby has a yeast infection in the mouth and it usually has a bad smell too.

It could be Thrush, I think basically it's a yeast infection in the mouth. You should take your baby to the doctor as it is hard to get rid of.

It could be milk, but if it lasts much longer than you think it should it could be a bacteria infection. I can't for the life of me think of the name of the infection now, but I know rubbing yogurt on it will take it away because yogurt kills the bateria.
