I recently came across a 70 chevelle that had what looked like holes (that the chrome molding went on) on the top side of each fender going across the length of the car on both sides. My question was this a special edition chevelle or were all those holes just man-made?I've only seen the malibu's with the moldings on the side but they were always in the middle and these holes were extremely precise and exact(on both sides)to be man-made unless my vision is going.Thanks.

I am sorry I have to say this, but I have been in love with chevelle's for 20 yrs and studied almost everything about them,BUT the chevelle and the malibu are the SAME CAR.Malibu was a trim level just like "ss".I don't understand why people think they are two different vehicles. But back to your question,it is a mid level malibu trim.I personally owned one that had the chrome strip. It ran from the front fenders to the rear quarter windows.

Must have been added later . I don't recall a 70' Chevelle ever having moldings on the front fenders.
