I am sorry I have to say this,but I have been in love with chevelle's for 20 yrs and studied almost everything about them,BUT the chevelle and the malibu are the SAME CAR.Malibu was a trim level just like "ss".I don't understand why people think they are two different vehicles.But back to your question,it is a mid level malibu trim.I personally owned one that had the chrome strip. It ran from the front fenders to the rear quarter windows.

Must have been added later . I don't recall a 70' Chevelle ever having moldings on the front fenders.

there was a few of the Malibu,s made with the molding on them,,the holes you see was for the clips that held it on,but i have seen regular Malibu,s with it on them,,it also was an option if you wanted to order it,,you could have it put on,i have seen several of them like this,,good luck i hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

FROM ONE WHO KNOWS ,I HAD A 1970 CHEVELLE AND THOSE ARE FOR MOLDINGS THEY DID COME FROM THE FACTORY WITH BODY SIDE MOLDING .
