I want to compare people's self recollection of their attractiveness when they were younger (i.e. high school or junior high) to what others say... and look at current self esteem & the disparity between reality & their own self perception (and understand why a disparity exists). However, I'd need to get people with LOW self esteem (and who maybe aren't so attractive) to give me pics of themselves from junior high and high school...to be rated anonymously by college students.

Many many many experiments on facial attractiveness do this, but very few ask for photos of when you were younger... and I think that's going to be an issue for me. I posted a question about a different experiment that I might do - and the point of these questions is just that I am dont want to go through the whole proposal / approval process if I am not even going to be able to execute the experiment. Would you give me a pic of yourself from age 12-18?

lolita, people's responses were irritating me. what do you mean: "for nothing" - what do you want for writing an answer exactly? if it was as insightful as whatever you wrote below then im not that interested anyway...i didn't ask for a judgement of my theory or work - as i cannot explain the entire thing in a little text box & most people dont read the entire question even if i did.

As long as you have their written (signed a piece of paper) permission, you should be able to do this one.

I would do it, and I bet other people would too.

I wouldn't let them know what other people said about the pics, though, unless they want to know, in case other people say bad things.

It might work.

Work on your proposal, be honest with the people you are asking, and be delicate. If these participants are not involved in the study in front of the college students and are not aware of the results of what others think of them, then I don't think anyone would be put off be the proposal.

You could find a bunch of people saying yes, and a bunch of people saying no. There are websites that have people post their pictures for rating just for the fun of it.

I know I wouldn't mind.

WHY DID YOU DELETE YOUR QUESTION ABOUT THE CELL PHONE PROJECT???

I JUST SPENT FIVE MINUTES OR MORE ANSWERING IT FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

THANKS A LOT FOR NOTHING!

Here is my answer to your other question (I do not like wasting my time!):

What kind of psychology research project is this?

What is the sole purpose of such a project?

What would it achieve in psychological terms?

It doesn`t sound very interesting to say the least!

Neither for you nor for the subjects studied (besides the $20 payment maybe!).

I would suggest finding some other project to work on!

Something with a pertinent & relevant purpose.

My self-esteem is pretty high right now...but I do have a head shot of me from high school...I don't think I was pretty then and I don't think I'm pretty now. E-mail me if you want to pursue this. I'm willing to play!

I think that it would be an invasion of privacy. If a person wants someones opinion of how they looked and/or look now, that's a decision they need to make, not you.

Nope. Mainly because I don't have one. I tend to stay on MY side of the lens, thank you.
