Well all boyfriends are different. So I'll just answer this as if I'm the guy ok.
Personally, I'd like to get food. Cook for him and have dinner together.

It depends on what he does or what he's into. Also how much you want to spend, how long you've been together, and how serious your relationship is. Try adding more details and you will be more likely to get better ideas. But to be vague, most guys are into electronics, especially video games. Even the older ones. Pocket knives and movie collections like the Godfather are also nice.

Maybe a necklace or a ring, but make it a romantic night before you give it to him. Go out to dinner or just eat dinner at your house. Then gaze at the stars together or something like that. Then just pop it out.
