trips. it was not always like this. after about 5 years everytime i tried it, the last times i tried it, i would feel like i was going completly nuts. is there anyway to get over the paranoia and bad feeling? for those who dislike smoking weed or the weed smokers, i dont care too much for your opinions. I support the decriminalization of marijuana among responsible adult users in the USA. (“Decriminalization” does not mean unfettered use -- it simply means NOT mandating that use is a criminally punishable offense.) I do NOT support the legalization of hard drugs.
Like most of Europe, I believe marijuana is a soft drug (like alcohol and tobacco), not a hard drug. Like alcohol and tobacco, there is no reason why it shouldn’t be taxed and regulated. Crime should only enter the equation if it is abused to the point where innocent people are harmed. I do not support children using marijuana (or alcohol or tobacco).

Marijuana triggers the adrenaline response - it is an adrenaline high after all. Think about it, blood is shunted from the stomach to supply energy to the muscles - hence why when after a while the blood returns back to the stomach and you get 'the munchies' because of the 'jerk' back into action. The sleepiness comes from it's effect on the brain and often your blood sugar goes high then low, and you get tired after the initial high wears off - also an effect of adrenaline. It's surprising isn't it? Marijuana affects the part of the brain that regulates 'fight or flight' -- are you familiar with that? In animals (and a primitive response in humans) -- it is triggered by a threat, and associated with ***fear***. SO (are you following me?) when your brain is affected by chemicals that mimick a fight or flight response it also (for some people) triggers fear because that is a primitive reflex - there is no threat - just the chemicals that normally are triggered when there is a threat.

Your response of 'paranoia' and anxiety most likely has to do with biology and genetics. Unfortunately no drug manufacturer would spend a billion dollars to produce a medication to treat this type of reaction. I would suppose you'd need to legalize weed first, haha. So, I am sorry to tell you, you will not get over this anxiety when you smoke. Often, as your body ages, this gets worse as the body cannot counteract the negative, toxic effects that happen along with the high. (as all drugs, legal or not have)

This is why most people quit smoking pot by middle age, it just isn't as enjoyable anymore. Plus, it will trigger the part in your brain that has the propensity for anxiety. I wouldn't judge you for smoking, but it is up to you to decide: do I feel better high with anxiety? or do I feel better not being high and having less anxiety?

Good luck to you, I hope this wasn't too complicated. :-)

I don't think this is an uncommon reaction, especially the paranoid feeling. Do you find that if you get past that "wave" of anxiety and paranoia that you can then just enjoy the buzz? I think the key is to not add to the anxiety. When you start to feel anxious, that should be a cue to get engaged in something which will focus your mind on something other than the anxious feelings. Maybe listen to music, watch a movie - whatever it takes to get your mind elsewhere. At the same time remind yourself that it is a feeling that is going to go away that you can get yourself through it. Are you being treated for your anxiety? If you take any medication, you want to consider the impact of mixing chemicals. If you are learning any cognitive strategies, use those to help keep your anxiety down. Good luck.

In all seriousnous, I have never heard of marijuana having this kind of effect unless it is laced with something. I'm also not clear about your question. Are you having these bad feelings all the time as a result of the use or is it something that only happens when you use? With that said, I'm going under the assumption that this only happens when you smoke it. Again, I have never heard of this unless there is something else in it. I know there is a kind of weed that is soaked in fromaldahide (not sure how to spell that). That may be doing it. That's what they use to embalm dead people. You may want to consider finding a new dealer.
P.S. I do not condone the use of illegal drugs either, nor do I engage in illegal drugs.
Hope this helps.

I too began to experience anxiety and paranoia when I smoked marijuana, but usually only when no INVOLVING activity accompanied it. I have stopped smoking almost entirely, and only do now when actively engaged in a social setting (at a party with friends, going out somewhere, or just conversing with a lot of people). If it is just myself, or me and one or two friends, sitting around, not talking much, listening to music, watching TV, etc. I avoid smoking, as this is when the anxiety tends to pick up. Watch for a pattern in your problem, and go from there. If you need to stop completely, do so.
I, personally, find much more pleasure now in good music, nature, or a good book.

Well, I used to smoke heavily with my husband.....I chose to stop, I know you dont want to here the anti blah blahs...but Anxiety ridden I am always. It may be a "soft" drug to you but it does change and hurt innocent people your like a slug and that doesnt harm?, check out the effects of long term usage. Anyways I have to take an anti-anxiety pill to help (my husband still does drugs and choses that over all) that may be part of the problem but since ive quit and Wont use again - I have panic attacks etc....talk to your doctor (mine says alot of bipolar people(even tho they dont know they are)- not saying you are - use weed to calm that when it hits hence the addiction....Anxiety sucks trust me I know, but I wish the best of luck. Seek help it's not a bad thing

bad trips are of the type you are having are common amongst pot smokers. usually it indicates a duallity in your judgment over smoking or getting high. bad trips are are unresolved issues we have within ourselves that surface during mental readjustment. try life without it, select carefully the times you use it. be your own judge of what turns you on. perhaps its time for a change of mind. been there. done that. still smokin.
