Tired of the same traditions year after year? Just stop. I did a couple years ago. I don't nag people about why they stress themselves out for a day in December, I just lead by example. Don't have money? Continue to maintain with what you have. I don't borrow anymore, don't have it to pay back, so why bother? I'm greatful I am still employed and have the little money I do to keep a roof over my head. All the other things will eventually fall into place. Dealing with difficult people? I wouldn't waste the energy. One day, you really can just stop and say I'm not doing this anymore. Not going to the in-laws. Rather than make everybody miserable, I'll just stay home, watch the game, throw a few back, and at the end of the night, still be merry. Life is too short, sweetie, to allow traditions and people to get under your skin. I think it's rather funny to see people break their neck to do for others that they haven't done all year long. Just be honest. Stop the masquerade. Stop living a lie to yourself. Be happy! Hope this helps...

Yes, I'm already stressed. Strangely, my stress this year is not coming from work, but from holiday shopping and a problematic sibling who is making it difficult for me to get into the Christmas spirit (we're not kids fighting; it's more complicated than that). I hope I can find a way to enjoy the last couple of weeks, because this is the first year I haven't totally worked my *** off at Christmas.

AW!..We have something in common.
You should do what I did. Give up on them and create your own customized Christmas without them.
Christmas is just too special of a holiday to have ruined for you year after year.
Give yourself a little gift this year. Tell everyone that YOU want to host your own celebration this year and just keep doing that year after year.
That's what I did and I AM SOOOO GLAD!
If these friends or family live in the same town as you, just swing by and say hi one day and then leave.
You don't have to but that is an option in case you feel guilty.
Don't feel guilty. They have had their way for years. Now it's YOUR turn.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! SMILE! And enjoy yourself for a change. You deserve a happy holiday too!

Bah HUMBUG....Geez, what an attitude! Particularly at Christmas, IT IS about others, not just you and your emotional state of well-being. If you want to "create" a memory that last all year long...go feed the homeless on Christmas Day...then the other 364 days of the year, you can be thankful, YOU ARE NOT THEM!!!
Happy Holidays!!! Smile guy!

Well you see it kind of depends on the kind of person that you are, If you are tolerant of others, you wouldn't let something as silly as traditions get to you sooooo much. But yet you don't want to be lonely and left out if you don't tolerate these kinds of things. You just have to learn to put all of you money problems aside and think about the meaning of the holiday. Think about who loves you and who you love. Put your worries away for now. All of your money issues, time constraints, what gift to get who, and just take a deep breath in and exhale out, put on some christmas music and get in the mood! this time only comes once a year, make it a good year.

nope, no stress at all whatsoever.. as a famous person said once, "If you're happy, no worries, if you've got problems, Why worry??"
The only reason you'll ever be stressed is if you're expectations of the holidays aren't being fulfilled... The best antidote is to not have expectations, and to focus on bringing happiness to the people around you! This is most most important...! Cheers

I am not going to be stressed out since I love Christmas. Why can't you stop some traditions? Don't let those people get to you. Don't let the holiday stress you out. It isn't very long and it's not worth it to be stressed out about it.

Why don't you try to make some new traditons for yourself and people that you'd like to be with? I know that'll be hard for the first year but it's better than being miserable with people you really don't want to be with. It's either that or just try to mentally zone out through the whole thing. Good luck.
