This is such a common problem of mine, and I've never sought to figure it out for some reason. Anyway, there are all sorts of programs that start up whenever I restart my computer, yahoo messenger, msn messenger, etc. I'd rather open them when I feel the need to, yunno? So how do I keep them from starting automatically?

Windows is basically set to load (at start-up) all the necessary files & proggys that are needed to make the operating system work.
However, each time you install another program, it is likely that the prog ur installing will basically 'embed' itself into the registry in order to open each time you boot thePC.
Way out:
After boot is done - click START > RUN and type msconfig and when the dialog box appears - and be careful where you click - untick the items under the START-UP Tab to the right, which relate to msnmgr or similar.
Re-Boot.

EASY...on re-boot, you are asked to tick a check box...tick it and work on, babe.

1. Go to msconfig by typing msconfig in the Start-> Run box. Go to startup and uncheck any program that you dont want it to start automatically when windows boots.

2. Disable any windows services that you dont want them to run. To disable them, go to Stsrt -> Control Panel ->Administrative Tools ->Services. Double click the service you want to disable and select disable from the drop down menu under startup type.

start -> run -> type msconfig -> click the startup tab. Uncheck anything that you do not want to start up. BE CAREFUL! If unsure about anything on this list, google it first. If in doubt, leave it checked until you can find out more info on the item.

start>run>msconfig>startup>un check what you dont want

follow up: anything that you disable in msconfig can be reversed by going into safe mode, so no extra precautions need to be taken. You should research each item in msconfig anyways before you just go unchecking it in the first place. Takes 2 seconds to google the process.. gg

btw this is for the idiot that said dont ever go in msconfig.. I probably go in it twice a week in diff pcs..

in case you opt for to eliminate a technique (from initiate-up) constantly to unencumber your RAM. - Press the 'abode windows Key' + 'r' - style msconfig contained in the container and press ok - click the amenities and Startup Tabs and in simple terms uncheck the courses and amenities you do no longer opt for. - Press ok then restart your computer you would be able to desire to get a message subsequent time you turn on the workstation. in simple terms click ok.
