I think the teacher meant that if slavery had never been abolished, what kind of labor would they have to do in today's society? Since in the U.S. when slavery still existed (1800's and earlier), slaves in America
(not Europe or any other place) were usually blacks brought over from Africa, and the question turned out to sound like it assumed the slaves were blacks. I don't think the question was meant to sound like it does.
That it a very odd and controversial project, all the same though. I would say slaves would probably be forced to do low-end jobs that don't require college education.

Why should the slaves be Black?

What if the slaves were white? or women?

I think slaves would be made to do back breaking work- like building roads, bridges, etc.

Women did the sewing in the sweatshops in the late 19th early 20th centuries. Right now work is being done by women and children in sweatshops in Asia and other 3rd world nations.

They would also work in the fields like the slaves did in the 19th century south. Illegal immigrants do this now for less than nothing.

It's sort of an interesting premise, isn't it?

So, this school project assumes that todays slavery would automatically entail black people being the slaves? There's entirely too many other nationalities in this country for your teacher to assume such! That is a TERRIBLE school project.

Slavery still exists in Africa as well as other Nations.
i know it is mainly domestic help that bears the brunt of it.
some get themselves into it by borrowing money at interest rates they can never afford to pay back. its sad but this is the way the world works. one who has nothing is almost always looking for something better and sometimes suffers the consequences in the rewards they reap

there is not any racial obstacles, Blacks can do in spite of the fact that they % to. If Asian people could make it by ability of working no longer difficulty-free, if Hispanics could make it by ability of working no longer difficulty-free, so can BLACKS. verify out Africa... who do Africans blame? Whites? Nope. I had a black lady held me down bodily, battling from doing what i % to do. i'm Black. So Obama, close UP. Blacks, GET a activity!!!!!!!
