IF they had a will, they are buried in the clothing of their choice. If there was no will, it's up to the family. And if there's no family and no will, but they could ID the person, they'd bury them in some clean clothing. If there is no will, no family, and no ID, then they are buried in whatever they were found in.

People are usually buried in something of their own, I know a girl that died that did not want to be buried in a dress so they buried her in her PJ's. My mom was buried in one of her pantsuits. I doubt seriously that they would be buried in muddy clothes. Now if that was the outfit that they had wanted to be buried in they would have them cleaned first.

If they were found dead, an autopsy would be done to determine the cause of death. People are buried in the clothes their family sends to the funeral home.

They would wash them most likely and or give them a suit or new clothes. All my grandparents were buried in suits, or dresses. People are generally buried in what I would call "Sunday Best" outfits.

the family would take care of something like that. If there is no family the state takes care of it. Depending on where you live they bury you in a plot market with a number or they might cremate you.

It really would depend on how long the body was exposed to the elements. I dont think bodies in the later stages of water decomp can be dressed. I'm sorry, its a gross answer to a gross question...
