What is Implantation Bleeding?
Many women have heard the term "implantation bleeding", but do not know what it is, while other women have not heard it at all and tend to get worried when it happens. So what exactly is implantation bleeding?
In a pregnancy, when the ovum, or fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall at the beginning of the first trimester it can cause a little amount of blood to be released, better known as - implantation bleeding. The egg has actually attached itself to the mother's circulatory system so there isn't any wonder about where the blood comes from.
Some women might feel cramping at implantation, others might have a , and some women will have neither. Implantation bleeding is not something that is detectible in every pregnancy. Pregnancies are considered perfectly normal whether there is any bleeding early on or not.
Many women wonder about how they will know if it is implantation bleeding or something else? If there is just light spotting, only requiring a woman to wear a panty-liner, if that, which goes away quickly, then it is probably just implantation bleeding. If the spotting is dark and not bright red, it is a sign that the blood is old blood, and is probably just implantation bleeding. It is best to remember that this can be normal in the first trimester, but you should check with your to be sure.
If it is not implantation bleeding, there are some other possibilities that it could be. If you have more than spotting, consider the idea that your is starting, or has started. It could even be a lighter flow than normal which could be caused by any number of things including stress, a change of job, a change in the home, etc. If you have changed the type of birth control pill you are using, then you could have a change in your menstrual flow. It could also be a sign of infection or abrasions on the inside from recent intercourse with your partner.

Implantation is when the fertilized egg travels to the uterus from the fallopian tube and attaches itself to the lining. Implantation bleeding can occur after the egg has attached itself and old or loose blood loosens and is passed out the body. Implantation can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after conception, this is how long it takes the fertilized egg to travel to the uterus and attach.

What is implantation? In short, a dangerous and painful procedure. It would be better not knowing.

After the egg and sperm unite (forming a zygote) they attach to the uterine wall. That's where the placenta grows.
