Lets say FOR EXAMPLE, that AS Roma bought Nakamura from Celtic, could they use him in the knockout stages? And what if they are facing FOR EXAMPLE Celtic? Does he have to sit out? How about other competitions (uefa cup, etc...)?

A player who has already played in the CL that season cannot play for another club in the CL that same season.

However, he can play in the UEFA Cup for another club, because it is a different competition. Same for the other way around.

Using your example. Nakamura cannot play for Roma. But he can play for a UEFA Cup club (say Tottenham). If Tottenham sell, let's say, Robbie Keane, to Celtic, then Keane can play in the CL.

I don't think you can do that. Nakamura listed as Celtic player in the Champions League's group phase so if he joined AS Roma he can't play for Roma in the Champions League as he's still Celtic player. But if AS Roma then played in UEFA Cup he can do that but ONLY IF Celtic doesn't play in UEFA Cup. I think it's aplicable in all cups competition formats.

It's happened with Liverpool in 2005 as we had Fernando Morientes in January. We couldn't play him in CL as he's listed as Real Madrid player at that time.

You can use a player so long as he ha not played already in a CL game for another side. It is referred to as being "Cup Tied". Therefore, Henrik Larsson who just signed for Man Utd. can play in the CL because he hasn;t already played this season in the tournament for another club.
