I still don't get why they drove off into the grand canyon. Why did they kill themselves??

They DIED!?!? I thought for sure the Car would make it across...you've just redefined my whole "Thelma and Louise" experience...hope you're satisfied!

Louise had killed someone, and they didn't think the fact that that someone had raped Thelma would make any difference to the rural cops, and they had committed robbery, and they didn't think they could handle prison, I think.

Because they had both had grown so much during their trip that if they turned themselves to the cop than they would be going back to their old selves

I believe that they did it because they didn't want to get caught and because they thought dying would be better than going back to their old lives. That is just my interpretation though. Hope this helps.

I think that neither one of them felt that they had anything worth going back to, or really anything to go back to. They both would've faced prison if they'd have turned themselves in.

I don't think they actually made a conscious dicision to DIE - they had just agreed to KEEP GOING and whatever happens, happens.
