If the keypad is locked then no (it's meant to stop you dialling people when its in your pocket).

Dialling 112 properly for the emergency services does work EU-wide though, including the UK.

Yes. 112 connects you to the emergency services in exactly the same way as 999.

not all countries use 999, but all EU countries (including UK) use 112.

I can dial both 112 and 999 on my nokia with the keylock on. They're the only numbers that can be dialed whilst locked.

No, 112 is just a myth.

Most cellphones will allow you to dial 911 if the phone is locked.

911 is always a free call, even if you're roaming. (It might not do you any good outside your country though.)

911 will even work if your service has been canceled. On most phones, it says 'Emergency Only' if you try to call a non-911 number without service. Others will say "Not authorized to use this feature" or something similar.

(BTW, this is from experience, not conjecture.)

No.

It automatically calls 112.

Which doesn't get you very far since you need more digits.

No... seriously... I think that only works in England...

And it only connects you to their 999 service.

So... you could just call 999 yourself.

Unless you are on a cell phone which just happens to be charged... but that you aren't authorized to make phone calls from. Which.. you know... doesn't happen very often.

But IF that were to happen... you can call 112 and it will connect you to 999. Otherwise... just call 999 yourself.

with my old Nokia '112' (worldwide emergency number) and '000' (Australian emergency number) were the only numbers that could be dialled with the key lock on. (my phone is a flip one so I can't try and see if it works because it doesn't have key lock).

it will only work in the UK and Europe, Please dont just try it and hang up as you might just find a friendly Policeman knocking on your door checking you are ok as you have abandoned an emergency call. Trust me I know, I answer them :)
