unless he gets dirty, there is no need to give him a bath every day. it will only dry out his skin. they say that you are not supposed to start your baby on solid foods until 6 months of age. if you do, they run a higher risk of developing food allergies. also, children who are that young do not have a mature enough sense of swallowing and can choke very easily.

Typically we do start feeding babies at 4 months of age. I don't know the reason for why you are putting the rice cereal in your baby food, but I guess you are just following the doc orders. What I would say to do is if you want to start feeding the baby veggies or fruits, first start with stage 1 veggies. You want to start the feedings with a spoon in the morning in case there is a reaction to the food the Doctor can see you right away, a typical reaction would be hives all over. You want to only start one new food every 4-5 days so that if there is a reaction you know which food it is from. Once you have tried all the veggies then move on the the fruits and do the same thing, good luck. Remember it is not critical for a baby to start new foods right not it is more for the parents enjoyment, if the baby doesn't seem to like it then try again in a week or so, they get everything they need from the formula

You could feed him rice cereal from a bowl and maybe mix in some jarred baby food. Start with sweet veggies like carrots or sweet potatoes. Babies need to be slowly worked into the bland veggies like green beans and peas. And if you start with fruits the baby will end up being to picky and not want the blander foods later. Make sure you only do one different food at a time. This gives you time to see if the baby is allergic to any foods. (Don't worry you will know if he is!) Good luck and if you have any questions just wait and ask your doctor. The Doc should be more then happy to answer any ?'s you have. Just one thing with putting the rice in the bottle. We did that for my 5 month old and she started being real fussy at night. I figured out it was because she couldn't suck anything through the bottle holes. We stick to a spoon for all her solid foods now.

First of all, you should never feed a baby cereal through a bottle. It increases their chances of choking. I was just at the pediatrician with my four month old today and asked about rice cereal. He said it was okay to start rice cereal and beginner vegetable, then fruits. Meat is not to be done until their six month checkup and the doctor gives you the okay. I have bathed my baby everyday since we brought her home from the hospital. It helps to get her into a routine so she knows bedtime is coming. If there skin starts to get dry from bathing, once you're done washing their hair and bodies, add a little bit of baby oil to the water to keep them from drying out too much. The nurse at the hospital said this was okay to do.

I have a 4 month old daughter and i give her a bath every night before bed. For the baby food I don't suggest feeding with a bottle because the baby needs to know that the bottle is for milk and a spoon is for the food. I mix my babys cereal with bananas and peaches,(fruit) but only alittle at a time and when i feed my daughter i make it real soupy so that she can swallow it and not choke on it because its to thick.

Interesting that a doc would advise cereal in a bottle -- but, it should be fed on a spoon. Wait for a bit for the food -- especially if he is content with the cereal. Why would you possible need to bathe a baby daily? It will dry out his skin --

I would wait a little while to give him anything besides cereal. Start with veggies, then move on to fruits and meat. Doctors suggest giving babies cereal with a bowl and spoon rather in a bottle as they can choke. In the winter it's best to give babies a bath every other day as their skin can dry out really bad, at least up here in Wisconsin it does. If he's really dirty give him a bath, but every other day is usually fine.

You should be feeding him from a spoon...not a bottle, As far as the jar foo I would wait for another month or so to make sure that he is doing really well on the cereal.....When my daughter was still a newborn...I gave her a bath everyday ....even now I still do she loves her baths

I started feeding my son rice cereal since he was 14 weeks, my son will eat anything. The answer is if your son will eat it and he shows no problems with it ( like being real fussy after eating) then you should go for it. The baby food is ok, but if you start giving your baby chewed up food he will not want to eat baby food anymore.( cause he had a taste of the real thing)...if your baby ever throws up from eating anything don't give him anymore. you can safly start baby food at 1 month old, but only for testing...and whoever said wait 7 to 8 months purly doesn't know what thier talking about.

My daughter is three months and I bathe her everyday. It calms her down before bed and gets her ready to sleep.
i wouldn't start into baby foods yet. the sooner a baby has new things the more apt they are to have allergies to them. Which is why we dont give honey to babys under one. Babys are sensitive to new things. i would wait until baby is at least 7-8 mon before baby food comes along. And for the cereal i would stick with the bottle for now because it is so thin they won't choke. I just don't think that a four month old is old enough to physically like chew it and mush it up yet. I would be to nervous. I would wait another month or two before i'd give it to him with a spoon.
