My husband lies about small, dumb things all the time, it drives me crazy.....sometimes it's to the point where I don't trust him. His mom said that for some reason, he has always been that way. He is almost 30 years old, can he, or will he every be able to change it?

Nope, my husband is 55, and he lies all the time. His parents say he's been like that since he was a boy. Everything is tweaked to a new version of the story he wants me to believe.

Look up narcissism & see if your hubby lies just to get away with stuff. If so, the only motivation is selfishness. It's like living with a dictator who has the maturity of a 6 year old.

I finally had enough & went AWOL last month, never to return.

I can honestly tell you that this will never change. I am getting a divorce because of someone like this. He lied about things that just seemed so ridiculous. And his mother said he always tells people what they want to hear, not the truth. I lost confidence and trust because the lies just got too deep. I had evidence of the truth and he would still lie periodically. This kind of person will drive you completely crazy.

He can be delivered from his lying spirit if he will invite Jesus into his heart.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away LYING, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Ephesians 4

By that age he is set in his ways. He is the only one who can make the commitment to change his ways. He has to do it for himself and no one else.

I have never met a liar who actually changed his ways. It may be possible, but I doubt he will ever stop lying.

There has to be a deeper reason for the lying. Try to get him to talk about why he does it especially if its about the little dumb things.
