That has to be the funniest thing I've read this morning! Were you trying to be funny??
No seriously, you could be right, but it doesn't apply to all social workers as the main-stream are there because it's their job to help you guys. And personally I believe that who chooses this occupation knows they will find challenges, sometimes very difficult. Try not to be too harsh! Life can be a b.tch for all of us, for some can be more than others.

There are those in this sphere who are there because they seem to enjoy the power it brings. HOWEVER, with that power comes the 'limitations' of what they can NOT do, and the retribution of Authority if they do it badly or wrongly.
On the other hand, there are those who are not there for 'The Power' but because they want to help those who are disadvantaged and / or at risk from the abuse that Society can do to them.
Those without any Power (and especially the 'financial' kind) are at the mercy of the rest of Society. Those with 'financial power' often, apparently, think they can simply use that Power to ride over others who get in their way (that's why there are more than ever Laws and more Enforcers of them) ~ abusing we lesser mortals.
The use of a grandiose and subjectively sweeping statement of Social Workers, perse, is as erroneous as saying the same thing that could be said (erroneously) of any other group / ethnic minority or segment of society.

Social workers help our country's most vulnerable people. Why are you so mad at them? Do you need some help? Social workers do a job most people in this country would never do. Most people in this country would not want to work for the low pay and do not want to see the reality of how disabled/disadvantaged people live. Of course social worker will have issues of their own, just live everyone else. But they should be commended on taking time out of their life to help, which is more than most people do.

I would love to agree cos i do from some of the things ive heard ( in the papers) but they're not like that.
Some of them are just not educated ( the wrong word - maybe knowledgeable is what im looking for - you know the kinds of people who have never known what its like to be **** skint and bringing up 6 kids or whatever.) enough in the areas that matter- Or some become ambivalent because they know they are not gonna make much of a difference in the long run. But most really try. Like we all do in our jobs it just means in our jobs mainly people dont die if we make a mistake ... So ease up !!

In some caes that could be true. They like to focus on dysfunctional families and other problems because it takes the emphasis off their own problems. This can be said about most people though, not just social workers
