Okay so am wondering here I really really want to be a writer but...I want to know something...does collage even really help you as one? I mean do you need to go to become a writer? Is it safer to go then not go? Has anyone taken a writing class at a university? If you have can you tell me what callage/University (needs to be in the U.S. ) and what the class was like (what they teach you)

I think you'll have better luck with good answers to your question if you ask it in the Art & Humanities (Books & Authors) category. People talk about these topics all the time over there.

It doesn't hurt to take some writing classes in "college." If writing is your passion, then you would want to be the best that you possibly can.

There are many colleges/universities in the U.S. that offers journalism and creative writing courses. They help you say things (on paper) more clearly, creatively, etc.

Also, if your spelling and grammar skills are a little less than desireable, you can take those kinds of classes to polish your language skills.

Editors at publishing houses are not as patient as they were, say, 30 years ago.

If they do not understand what you are trying to say, or they can't follow your story line or plot, you will probably not hear from them again.

Make good use of your "Spell Check" and "Grammar Check" on your computer, too.
