I have a paperback book whose spine is coming loose--that is, the pages are falling away from the spine. Does anyone know of the best type of glue to use to glue the pages back to the spine that will not damage the pages? Specific links to products or name[s] of products is what I am looking for.

I help repair books at my daughters' elementary school library, and we use a product called Demco NeutralBond Modified Vinyl Adhesive. You can find it on this page: http://www.demco.com/webprd_demco/product_index/SUP_BKC_030.htm
For instructions on how to use this type of glue to repair books, the Brodart book repair guide is really good. http://www.demco.com/webprd_demco/product_index/SUP_BKC_030.htm (page 18). Yes, that's plain old wax paper like from the grocery store! It's to keep the pages from sticking together when the glue smushes out while it's still setting.

I don't really know, but I'd try hot glue....

i think rubber cement might be a good choice.
