Wow..man, no love for the Uchiha...actually, if that was the case, then why did everyone fear Sasuke going into the Chuunin exam?...and most likely, Sasuke would have passed the Chuunin exam if he got through Naruto. Sasuke has already beaten Naruto, and within the manga at the moment outclasses him as well. He has developed a new Chidori jutsu that surrounds his body, not allowing close contact fight, and his speed has become phenomenal. He's so quick, that Tenzou, an anbu member, couldn't see him. Uchiha were the "police" of the Konoha village. Their Sharingan was sought after by everyone. If the Hyuuga clan was so great, then where are their warriors amongst the Elite of Konoha?
Yes, the Byakugan is a great Bloodline, even "more cunning that the Sharingan" as Kakashi once said. But the Byakugan cannot predict movements nor copy jutsu, it can only see the flow of Chakra and objects nearly at ever angle around it's user. The Sharingan itself has been sought after by virtually everyone, Akatsuki, Orochimaru, Bingo Book assassins. The Uchiha Clan lived prominently within the Konoha village during it's day. But now, with only two members, it's still prominent, but moreso prestigious seeing as how it's so rare now.
They say the Sharingan is a direct descendent of the Byakugan. The Uchiha are spoken with high regard and respect, Hyuuga's on the other hand are not known for their greatness. There is not one Byakugan user that has been trained within the elite, whether that be under a legendary sannin, Jiraiya,Tsunade or Orochimaru, nor an Hokage. Possibly, no Hyuuga clan member has made Anbu...Two Sharingan users have, Kakashi and Itachi. Obito was taught under the 4th, he was an uchiha, an elite. Uchiha are the elite's of the Konoha village, that's why they were so prominent within Anbu and within "policing" the village.

It was second only to the Hyuga clan but now that Itachi killed the entire clan but Sasuke, it is very weak.
