one fun way that can be aggrevating but convenient and a steady reminder is to do what the government is doing everywhere only do it at home too..... LABEL EVERYTHING IN SPANISH... write the word that represents the item or activity in your house associated with everything and leave it near or on the item.... like an EXIT over the door.... remember how they did it on elementary television.... you have to build a basic vocabulary ...just as you would teach a child..... what is the first thing we teach but labels.... momma....dah dah..... yes..... NO!... and associate expressions.... that is what I would imagine the process would be.... learn labels that you find most important by seeing them as they are being used... just imagine labels in the kitchen for the stove, refrigator, cooking, washing, the toilet, the commode, the shower, taking a bath, etc etc etc... see how it goes in the same order as a child would learn to identify important things first then develop into expressing ideas... this I would imagine would lead to the ability to think in the language quicker than any other process... remember how your first grade teacher held up flash cards with a picture, a word, and a sound.... all 3 of these things are necessary for building a vocabulary in any language.... these sensory groups associate to form memories on which your brain process thought.... sorry ... a little too far i think...
sorry for the lazy script.... just spouting ideas not writing a paper

Learning another language is very hard, you have to totally immerse yourself in it for months or even years before you are fluent. Start with the Pimsleur tapes, you can listen to them in the car and they get you to think in terms of real-life situations (For example, instead of asking "how do you say excuse me?" They will ask "You just bumped into a lady on the bus. What do you say?"). Berlitz is good too, the lessons are almost like soap operas. In fact, speaking of that, see if you can buy or watch (on PBS) "Destinos" (a "Novela" for teaching basic Spanish).
You'll need something to explain grammar, and a spanish-english dictionary. Spend every waking moment with them. Buy post-its and write the spanish words for every single thing you see in your house, and stick it on them!
Buy spanish magazines and newspapers. Look up words and try to translate things. It won't be easy at first, but stick with it.
Listen to any TV or radio stations you have. At first, the only thing you'll understand (maybe) is commercials but as your vocabulary increases that will change.
You need a friend or friends that speak it fluently to help you practice. If you don't have any, make some!
It takes a while, work hard and don't get discouraged!

Get language CDs and practice with friends who speak Spanish. I had to learn Spanish the hard way. When I was in high school, most of my yearbook staff spoke Spanish. My advisor would only speak in Spanish and translated later to me if I didn't know what he said. When I lived in Italy, I worked with a staff who knew very little spoken English. I had to attend meetings, sometimes, where only Italian was spoken. Immerse yourself in situations where you have to communicate in Spanish. It will be fun, frustrating at first, but you'll get the hang of it.

It used to be the summer time of 1940 and I had simply started grammar college in which I used to be being taught French, the language of the folks who had simply chickened out of the warfare. So I made up our minds to train myself German, which regarded because it probably a lot more priceless. I acquired a publication known as "German on your own" which used to be good organised with fascinating texts of progressively growing obstacle, adding such a lot of elementary texts of German tradition (Die Lorelei, Röslein auf den Heiden, Stille Nicht, Nun danket alle Gott, Deutschland über alles or even the Horst Wessel track--the publication used to be a 1939 version!).. I labored tough and mastered the grammar however not ever perceived to uncover the time to deliver myself a vast adequate vocabulary to make studying handy. I did nonetheless come throughout a "Comparative Grammar of the Germanic Languages" in a 1870 version in a moment hand book shop. This announced me to Middle High German, Old High German, Old Saxon, Gothic, and taught me a lot approximately the evolution of my possess language. When I pay attention or learn German I fully grasp instantly the grammatical constitution of every sentence, however my vocabulary deficiencies nonetheless makes me overdependent on a dictionary. I visited Germany and German Switzerland in 1951, 1952 and 1997 and will get through as a vacationer, and I on the whole learn Die Neue Zürcher Zeitung at the Internet (due to the fact it's this sort of well paper).. Needing one more GCE to get into school I taught myself Portuguese and simply accomplished a naked go, however after taking it as my subsidiary measure field, adopted through a PhD in Brazilian topics, and five years' condo in Brazil, I have accomplished close local fluency, which may be very pleasant, however I quite ought to uncover time to upgrade my German vocabulary!

well if you are out of high school, they have many great products out there to help you learn. They have cds that you insert into your PC and guides you and tests you. They have "people" on the cds that help you prounouce all the words for you too. They do have books too like the ______ for dummies series. and an idiots guide to______. You can search book stores for these kinds of books. And if you can afford a tutor that would be the best bet...one on one learning.

well the best way is first learning the grammar and then practicing it, a really easy way to learn it is going to a place where no one speaks your language i assure u you will learn quickly and it would be much more easier than learning it in a class.... for example go to spain or in south america or the caribbean (dominican republic, cuba, puerto rico, ect.... )
thats how i learned italian...

1) Take a class--the best way is to learn with others and with someone who knows how to start
2) Get a book with tapes
3) Buy a tape recorder and tape record yourself speaking the language
4) Start with the alphabet and numbers and go from there.
