As a parent, it is your responsibility to see if the game is appropriate for him.

Use the ESRB rating and see what type of content you can expect to see in the game. I can tell you right now that it's got Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, and Strong Sexual Content among other things.

Do you think it's appropriate for a 11 year old to be playing a game where you can shoot hookers and steal their money? Hire a prostitute and then kill her to take back your money? Get a bat and swing at anybody on the street because you need money? And that's just the first few minutes of the game.

If you're still not sure if it's appropriate, go to the local game store and ask them if you can try out the game. I know that at Funcoland, you can ask to try out a game before you buy it.

If you decide to buy the game, watch him play and see for yourself if it's something that's appropriate for him. If it's not, take the game and put it away.

Well I've played every GTA game that came out since the 90's and I never got any urges to pick up a gun and go berserk. It all depends on the kid if he goes "loco" or something but it seems obvious that you're a concerned parent so there shouldn't be a problem talking to the kid about violence and such. Protesters and haters of the GTA series just don't know how to raise kids 'coz the fact is if you keep your kid from experiencing anything that he's curious about, the kid will just snap in some point of time and do a lot of stuff behind your back. And if you really think about it there's a lot more overprotected kids that go rebellious on their parents. So what I'm really saying is just get the game for the kid, anyways it's a good game and if you don't want him to go all berserk because of what he saw in the game just talk to him about it.

If hes just 11 he shouldn't be played M rated games, there's a reason why they are rated M. Games rated T are fine for a 11 year old but not M games, especially grand theft auto.

I dont know if you realize this but did you know that the original version of GTA San Andreas was rated Mature but they had to change the rating to Adults Only because it was full of sex and nudity.

Even now this game will not be sold to a minor because of all the controversy about the game. And do you realize what the updated version of the game has in it? They may have took out the nudity but they still have it full of prostitutes, sex, murder, gangs, drugs, alchohol, extreme violence, blood and gore...and thats just the basics.

It poisons a persons mind to play this. If he was 17 or older I wouldnt say anything because 17 is the limit but he is 11. I've seen what games like this can do to a person and I also realize from my own experiences. Believe me...I have bad habits right now that i dont even like to mention and all of it is in one or more of my games.

Lots of people talk about how they just play it to play it and dont think about doing the stuff it has in it. Its not true. Even if you do mean that, it still can take you over. I say that myself sometimes, and it doesnt really effect me that much but i have learned that it effected me some.

Did you hear about that kid a few years ago? He was heavily addicted to Halo 2. He played it night and day. If you dont know about this game, its a shooter. Anyways, one day he took a gun to school and killed all of his classmates....he was in 8th grade. And now he is in prison for life because of Halo 2.

He's 11, and you're thinking of buying him GTA:San Andreas... See it's parents like you that kinda piss me off, because you haven't even done your homework on the game. Clearly you're not a gamer yourself, so I'll spell it out for you...NO. It's rated M for a reason, and you need to put your foot down. If your kid doesn't like it, tough ****.

Well it really comes down to if your mature enough and who you are inspired by, if you like thugs and think robbing peoples cars are fun then don't get it because it might increase crime rates in the U.S. but if you just play it to play it then you deserve it!!!

I would wait a couple years. I'm 16 and I've played it, but it's not really all that fun. Killing people and stuff is fun after the first few hours, but after the initial impression, it's boring.

Nope. Not even for a 16 year old. Personally, I love it. But I... errr. am over 18.
