I'm would like to think of myself as an intellectual woman, who likes to venture out and meet new people occasionally. However when I try various of lesbian chat rooms, I’m bombarded by either men pretending to be women, or sex crazed women, or spammed by the potential viral websites of nude women. If I don’t have a web cam or willing to share my identity in any form, I’m automatically dismissed. There is no sense of a little self- disclosure anymore or is that just me? I’m looking for serious responses please. I don’t have time for the child like comments. You can grab you easy points somewhere else. If anyone has any real advice, please feel free to share.

Looking on the internet for a couple of nice, friendly, and decent companions then you are sorely mistaken. People on the net or more so in chat rooms tend to be imbecilic, immature jack’s asses with nothing useful to say or anything productive to do. There are a couple of descent people, much like myself, out there. We happen to be harder to find and generally only attend chat rooms out of sheer boring curiosity. How a person can basically live within the chat systems is beyond me. They need to rethink their lives greatly. If you want a serious conversation, then you will need a bit of luck and quite a bit of intelligence. Gently probe the rooms first. After you have spotted a couple of possible candidates, then I say weed them forcefully out. Use all necessary tactics if you must. All is fair in love and war, right? To a point, that is. Try not to go overboard. I have a good friend who is best to work with. How do you call it - wing men? My friend can clear out all unwanted visitors within five to ten minutes of entering a chat room by exhibiting a few unwanted “qualities” and using a few “manipulative” tactics. After you have arranged for a more closed off session, then state your intentions clearly after a few minutes of mindless chit chat. You could also go to chats with the ability of closed off (private) sectors (rooms). It really is sad though. These days chat rooms are filled with the older perverse minded man/woman and hormone crazed males/females. I take it you are a lesbian? I have nothing against it, but if you want a bit of decent common sense based conversations - recently - I have plenty of time. Only talk and nothing more. I have yet to find a good conversational partner in a long while. Sad, is it not?

Yes, the majority seem to be for sex. When you think about it, it's not strange at all. It's a bunch of people who probably have little to no social life congregating together, hiding behind their computer screens. People can say whatever they want and noone will know who they are. If people want sex (which most people in chat rooms really want) a lot of people in the chat room will probably be receptive to it. Sad, really.

Thats what it seems like now huh. Most of the time thats all that is talked about there. But if you have a lucky day you can find the most interesting people there. I found the love of my life on a yahoo chat room. We have a met and fell in love. But there are so people there who can make it very unconfortable at times.

Yahoo messenger isn't worth the trouble to download any more. 90% sex bots, and 9% horny old guys that want you to look at there dick on cam. The 1% of real people are afraid to say anything. It's really pitiful. I'm a straight male/57.

Chats (especially Yahoo) aren't a place where REAL people can chat anymore. Most are full of bots, fake people, and people cruising for sex (real and cyber). I don't even bother with Yahoo chats anymore. IMO, AOL chats are better, less bots, and more actual people. I like using the "local" chat rooms (for me, that's Buffalo Chat). AOL is free if you already have broadband.

i prefer special interest user groups for net dialogs
wide open chats are basically spam forums
good luck on getting serious responses
this venue is almost as bad
Merry Christmas

I feel the same way as you....there's more 'down to earth' people outside of the house instead of sitting in front of the computer screen...possibly jacking off...there's a lot of nutjobs out there and little trust from me.

I quit chat rooms for that same reason about a year ago. I kind of like to be annon for a bit.. it doesnt matter, what I'm wearing or what I look like.. I just wanted to chat. I didnt want to fight, bicker or argue with the people who would come in to chat rooms just to stir sh*t up.

IDK what to tell you, but I feel your pain.

The internet is crawling with freaks and perverts. ( and they expect everyone to look like Barbie or Ken. lol)
