That is a tough one. These links may help. Also many questions have been asked about cats here on YA. Possibly check the "cats" section in the Pets category. Good luck with it.

Hi. I am a mom who is also a registered nurse and a lawyer. I have had to write many papers and I am glad to try and help. The first thing you have to do is calm down. It is not as hard as it seems or none of us would have ever figured it out. Since you are computer savvy, you know there are tons of sites out there about cats. You must clearly identify what it is your teacher is asking you to do. Then you find the research that you need. The place where most people get stuck is in "fully developing" an answer. What this means is this: look at what you've written and think of all the questions left unanswered. When you have written an answer to all of those questions and no questions remain, then you have fully developed your research. For example, say you wrote "Cats originated in Egypt." When in Egypt? Why were they important to Egypt? How did the Egyptians go about refining breeds? What were some uses of those cats? Who had cats? See? Before you know it you will have many more words than you ever expected. And if you get stuck, do a search for "interesting cat trivia" or something and it will get you going on more to write about--and your paper will be interesting. Always use your spell check and remember not to make stuff up and to always give credit for where you got the information. Soon you will be a scholar. Good luck.

I guess I wrote a paper on pets in general how owning a pet can literally add years to your life. It helps if an older person looses their spouse, the cat/pet keeps them company. Then theres the therapy pets who go to hospitals and makes the patients feel better just by having an animal to pet and everything. I guess it's not limited to just what is a cat, but more of where they're used and such. Hope this helps.

trace back the history of domesticated cats, how they are still similar to wild animal cats, how often they breed, common illnesses, life span, etc. etc. etc. You could pad that puppy out with a little thought.

Or, you could write about the needless euthanasia of perfectly healthy dogs and cats, over 6 million in the US each year due to lack of suitable homes. From that you could also talk about TNR programs (Trap/Neuter/Release) and why they are important to keeping that horribly high number of euthanasia deaths down.

Write a 1700 word term paper on dogs.

Then put the 1700 word paper on dogs at the end of the term paper on cats.

Connect the two term papers by saying...

One major part of truly understanding cats is to know how they are different than dogs.

Dogs are.... (insert dog paper here.)

Then end the term paper by saying.. now that you understand how different cats are from dogs... you truly understand cats.
