We do play in the US, but it is nothing like it is in Canada. Hockey in Canada is like football is in the US.
It's no coincidence that most of the hockey players in the NHL are NOT from the US.

Hockey is an international sport now but go to any minor hockey rink here in Canada and you'll understand how much it is still soooo Canadian, it's scary (as Count Floyd would say).
Americans are not watching it in enough numbers on TV as it's reallty just a strong regional sport there in pockets like New England, Minnesota, Detroit...with Tampa one of the few Southern markets drawing big. If they were watching a lot of hockey the NHL would be on a national network not buried on Versus.
I'll give Americans one big pt over Canadians, you guys support pro hockey better than we do with the AHL, ECHL, etc.

Yes, not only Americans and Canadians love hockey. Hockey is played all around the world. It's not that it's CANADA'S sport. (We don't own it or even pay for it, lol.) but it is the number one sport to play and watch in our country, and a lot of the best players come from Canada. That's why Hockey gets dubbed "Canada's Sport".

hockey in Canada is a passion, dreams, life, its are game and it always will be nobody will ever argue that well people that know hockey would never argue that. the northern parts of the U.S yes they know there hockey as well cause it's been around for a long time places like Minneapolis, New York, Massachusetts and a few others in the area. and in Europe it's huge the second biggest sport in the world behind Football (soccer) yes hockey is hurting in the U.S with it's T.V ratings but the sport of hockey globally is the second biggest sport in the world. heck all 3 American sports are nothing compare to soccer and hockey around the world. tennis and golf are bigger sports the American football, baseball and basketball. just because its not working out in the U.S.A doesn't mean the sport is not good it's just they don't see what a real sport is. yes the best sport in the world hockey, it's my game and it's Canada's game.

My opinion of Canadians has not replaced. I have elementary many Canadians all my existence. I play hockey with many those who were born interior the hockey motherland. So have continuously had a good opinion of Canadians. As for the Habs , in the journey that they bypass over out on the playoffs even with each and everything the hoopla about the anniversary and the All movie star recreation fiasco, that must be embarrassing .

Hockey is culture, religion, an evolution, it's about family, dreams and possibilities. It's about sacrifice, and pain in an effort to achieve those dreams. Knowing full well that if you don't make it to the NHL, it's still worth it. Because you have given the greatest sport on earth your all. It's about friends, memories, teamwork and devotion. That's a small taste of what hockey is to Canadians.
Hockey is not nor will it ever be an America's Sport.
PEOPLE HOCKEY WAS NOT INVENTED IT EVOLVED.

It's because so many Canadians live and breathe hockey, just like Americans live and breathe football.
And if anyone says it's because we invented it, well we invented basketball too (James Naismith) and that's definitely not a Canadian sport :)
