Mark Brunell got old, the defense under-performed and the Redskins had a pathetic draft.

Many things my friend. First their defense is spotty at best. Everyone hyped up how great the Greg Williams defense was last year, and in the end they gave up too many big plays this year. Hasn't helped the Redskins that Clinton Portis has been injured for alot of this season and with as badly as Brunell has been playing they certainly could have used the yards Portis would have put up. Quarterback has been a huge problem, as I feel Brunell has seen his better days and should probably hang it up. Lastly I will add that they went out spent big bucks just like Snyder likes to do and got Antwaan Randel El from Pittsburgh and didn't hardly use him. This is a guy who can play returner, quarterback and receiver and they hardly went to him, only when the season is almost over has he started to see any playing time. For the Steelers he was an X Factor, why wouldn't you use this guy? Instead they had Rock Cartwright returning kick offs??

Why's everyone blaming Daniel Synder? He made the Redskins one of the highest grossing, if not the highest grossing, team in the NFL. I think he's just trying to win more games by buying all those high priced pro bowl free agents, but for some reason there not performing.

As for why there not doing good, well you could blame a lot of things. I think its the chemistry among the players and coaches is not there. Jason Campbell is still young and I expect great things from him, but the problem is that he is inexperienced. The defense is not what it used to be, which is surprising under Gregg Williams who usually has spectacular defenses. The whole offense is centered around Clinton Portis, who was gone for most of the season, and even when he did play he had a problem with his shoulder. So there are a lot of issues that the Redskins are having right now, but I think there going to rebound next season with a healthy team.

The coaching staff rested on their laurels and gave none of the players motivation to get up for the game. Joe Gibbs, Al Saunders, and Gregg Williams were way over confident going into the season. This lead to the players being over confident and not putting 100% into the games. Everytime they would lose, all the announcers and coaches would say, "Well, its just the beginning of the season and I'm sure we'll get on track."
Don't get me wrong either, the players share the responsibility also. They are all veterans and no what it takes to win games in the NFL. Gibbs and the coaching shouldn't have to babysit and run these guys into the ground during practice to make them work hard. They know they get a paycheck for a reason.
To remedy the problem, I believe Gibbs needs to run practices tougher. He also needs to screen Suanders' play calling on gamedays. He knows how to win in the NFL. The formula doesn't change that much in the league that would make him forget. He needs to be hands-on with his team and impose an attitude with his team.

Wow as a life long fan whoever blamed Joe Gibbs should know the are commiting blasphemy and might as well just volunteer to go to hell, secondly Portis hurt himself in the preseason making that tackle and never quite recovered, dont get me wrong Betts is a great back but hes no clinton portis, secondly, I am amazed Brunell's arm hasnt fallen off yet, hes had a great career but hes just not...in his prime anymore, and the defense isnt living up to expectations, partially due to injuries to the DB's early on and yes some underperformance. And last to speak of injuries, Santana Moss has been in and out of the line up with a bad hamstring, which we all know can kill the career of a speed receiver. Its just a combination of things that will get better with time. and please dont ever diss Joe Gibbs, you might seriously end up in hell for it, that man is Gods right hand man as far as that city is concerned. Also, all this complaint about Dan Snyder spending all that money, it worked several times for Stienbrenner with the yankees,

JOE GIBBS wrong time, wrong place
today's players are not the same as the
one's GIBBS had when He won Three
(3) Superbowls. the Old players played
Hurt & were not paid the kind of money
these pompered players of today. I was
watching George Michaels & Gibbs show
and they stoped talking football to talk about
Gibbs car racing - now what doe's that tell ya.

What do u mean "fall so far"? The redskins were the worst team in the playoffs last year, but this year they had to bench Brunell,Lost Portis to injury, and its defense is last in takeaways.

Dan the Fan thought he could win by buying up everyone else's players and didn't give much of a thought to developing a gameplan.
