You honestly think financial intelligence is ALL you need to stop being poor? You DO realize that there are plenty of poor out there without any luxuries, working two or three jobs to support themeselves - and that's a single person - and not being about to get through anything more than the next month? When are peopel who have never been poor going to get a clue that it isn't laziness or a desire to mooch of the government that makes a lot of people poor?
Grab a clue - no, take five. Now go be poor for a while and see if you can get out of it easily.

The majority of the poor may never have financial intelligence.
I agree with the answer that most poor people would take gifts of 100, 1000, or 1,000,000 dollars and blow it on a whole lot of nothing.
So sad.
Yet there are a savvy few who can turn 100 into 1000 or 10,000 into 100,000 dollars, but those poor people are few and far between.

True story here. I had an aquaintance that was out of work and complaining about how poor she was and how bad she felt about it. Then, a month later, she told me that she finally found a job. What did she do? Well, with her very first paycheck, she went out and bought and exotic fish for her fish tank. The cost? $150 for a single little fish! She took it home and put her new fish in the tank. Before the day was over, her cat saw the fish swimming near the surface and decided it looked delicious. The cat ate the fish!
There you have it. The chronically poor have no concept of the value of a dollar. If you give them $100 on a Monday, by Friday, they will be broke. If you give them $1,000 on a Mondy, by Friday, they will be broke...and so on.

I have my own business, 5 bedroom house, attached and detached garage. I grew up poor. I am not now. Does "poor" equate to "stupid" in your mind? You are the one who needs educating. How about circumstances that are out of some peoples control (like illness). Also, it is difficult once you are down to pick yourself up, especially when dealing with many in our society that have your attitude. Does it make you feel better to belittle those less fortunate then yourself? WOW!!!! Sounds like you could really get a life!! Best of luck to you... hope you don't have a bout of bad luck where you find yourself needing a hand up.

I agree with Mr. Stockbond. The poor must take the initiative to gain "financial intelligence."
Plenty of opportunities for everybody out there to move up.

When they get off their *** and read a book about managing their money instead of racking up their credit cards and complaining how hard life is.
