Thank you for your question.

It was because he used to call people killer especially when he forgot their names. It was apparently a common term in North Louisiana where Lewis grew up. He accidentally shot his bass player in the 1970's but that was not the reason. He was also turned away from Graceland during the same period but that was not the reason either.
