Is that a good time. I want to know if it is a boy or girl... so I want a good shot. Is that a good time?

At 18 weeks, the baby is big enough to be able to see if it's a boy or girl. BUT it depends on whether or not you get a good view of that area. If the baby has its legs crossed, or is moving around too much or if the umbilical cord is between the legs, you won't be able to tell. I made sure to eat a candy bar about 30 minutes before my ultrasound. My baby was very active and we got a good look at her! If you go early in the day, drink some OJ, that should help.

I found out the sex at 16 weeks but the nurse also said that my baby was very well developed. I think 18 weeks is sufficient just hope the little booger has his/her legs open for the best results!
But you should have another ultrasound later, so dont get upset if they cant tell you the sex.

I'm not certain on the exact week but I'm sure you can't see the sex during an ultra sound until you are atleast 23 wks, give or take a few wks.

With my first child I had mine around 18 and a half weeks.With this one(I'm 31 weeks) I had it at 18 weeks and both of them I was told what I was having.

I had an ultrasound done at 18 weeks and they refused to tell me what I was having. Shoot for 20 weeks just to be sure.

That is a perfect time, because they can tell the sex of the baby at 16 weeks.
