I am 13 weeks already... I asked today and he said the uterus is still sunk in abit at 13 weeks... he said he'd check in a couple of weeks... is this normal?

Babies form a heartbeat at 5 to 6 wks. You can see it during a ultra sound at that time.
I'm pregnant with my ninth child and my doc always check the heartbeat on my first visit (thru unltra sound), if I'm atleast 6 wks.

I remember going in for my 13th week appointment and he checked for the heartbeat, and couldn't find it. He said it was normal that sometimes, it's still difficult until 16 weeks to pick up the baby's heartbeat with a doppler until then. We later found out that I'd been a week behind all our estimates. Regardless though, my next appointment, he tried for the heartbeat again (I would have actually be 13 weeks then but thinking I was 14) and after trying for more than a minute or two, he did find the heartbeat. Nice and strong. 154.
Sometime it just depends on the doctor. But it is normal.

I was overweight when I got pregnant and they couldn't hear the heartbeat on a doppler until I was around 14 or 15 weeks. I did have a ultrasound at 8 /12 weeks though and saw it then.

My doc wanted to check for a heartbeat at 11 weeks but knew that it would be hard to find as I'm a little "fluffy". Instead, he did another ultrasound. Most docs will try to hear it around 12 weeks...15 seems a little late but I suppose every doc is different.

I have had 5 babies and every one of them they checked the heartbeat on the first appointment I would go see a different doctor if I were you

i had my baby's heart beat found at 11 weeks and I'm 13 now and i heard it yesterday 2 times at the ultra sound place and the doc appt find a different doctor he seems lazy or just dumb!! and as well im over weight and heard mine at 11 weeks its soooo great! also im 13 weeks and in my ultra sound i saw my babys fingers and nose! awww good luck

That sounds about right i wouldnt worry usually about the 2nd or 3rd visit to the obgyn is when you are able to hear the heart beat.
