I am really surprised by some of these answers. The top two in points right now are the Anaheim Ducks and Buffalo Sabres. You could certainly make a reasonable argument for the San Jose Sharks as well. A couple of teams (Ottawa, Calgary, New Jersey) started off slow but have surged lately, will definitely be in the playoffs and are not totally unreasonable picks. But Edmonton? Philadelphia? Have you guys looked at the standings? Really now.

When all is said and done I think we will have an Anaheim vs. Buffalo final with Anaheim winning.

Best team in Canada. Best team in North America. Best team on the planet, Montreal Canadiens. 24 Stanley Cups. No team comes closer. Any other answer is wrong. Yes. That's right!

1972 Team Canada that beat the Russians was the best and will remain the best to ever lace up a pair of skates. It was literally a war on ice. I was in grade 3 and remember going to the gymnasium to watch the final game.

Well, you asked for the WORLD'S best hockey team, in North America...doesn't make sense.

A lot of people would say that the Montral Canadians are the best team ever in the NHL. But personally and right now, I think my hometown team the Buffalo Sabres are the best.

The Tampa Bay Lightening won the Stanley Cup and that's the equivalent of the World Cup for Soccer, Superbowl for American Football or World Series for Baseball.
