In his coherent "Messages to the World" and other speeches, the role of Israel and the Jewish people in the Muslim dilemma Osama Bin Laden may be easily perceived to be anti-Semitic.

Given the realpolitik of the Middle East, the rhetoric is bipolar, you are either pro-Palestine and anti Israel or you are a Jew lover.

Surely a pro-Semitic (that is another expression for the lexicographers to decide upon!) would not declare Jihad (holy war) on the Jewish people.

So yes, Osama Bin Laden has exhibited evidence of his anti-Semitism when he declared Jihad on the Jews.

Mahmoud Abbas's Ph. D dissertation which has been published as a book "The Other Side: the Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism" among other things raises questions about the authenticity of the holocast figure.

As a politician and a political leader, Abbas has been credited with pragmatism and rapproachment. His role in the Oslo peace agreements is a matter of public record.

However the accusation of Mohammed Daoud Oudeh, in his book Memoirs of a Palestine Terrorist that Abbas masterminded the Black September attacks during Munich Olympics in 1972 when Israeli athletes and several non-targeted people were killed certainly creates doubt about the extent of his militancy.

Unlike Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Abbas, a politician and statesman is a bit more difficult to label. Abbas' family were refugees during the war after the creation of Israel. He has fought alongside Yasser Arafat and presented a moderate face of the Palestine Liberation Organization to the world at large. He has generally been circumspect in his public image.

His present stand-off with the Hamas on the recognition of Israel and calling of legislative elections on the issue certainly complicates assessment of Mahmoud Abbas' anti-Semitism.

In summary, Osama bin Laden, through his speeches and writings can be surmised to have anti-Semitic views Mahmoud Abbas is a bit more complex to rate.
