They are both excellent actors. Gene Hackman is much more the character actor. Of course Sean Connery was the consummate leading man in the past, and is now a convincing character actor as well. Bravo to the two of them

Hmmm, well they're both good actors but Gene Hackman has always creeped me out for some reason. My vote will therefore go to Sean Connery b/c he's a hottie no matter how old he is.

Can't beat the fact that Mr. Sean Connery was a 007 Agent once!...also he's got good looks, and has been in a lot more SUCCESSFUL movies, like The Rock with Nicholas Cage, and many other action packed, story told, movies....*wink*

Good question. I prefer watching Sean (yum), but I think Gene has shown more variety in characters, playing them all truthfully.

The difference between the commander in Crimson Tide and the corrupt lawyer in The Firm, for example; or between Popeye Doyle and the blind monk in Frankenstein. He can do drama and comedy equally well.
