It could be something else. Does it shift out of park at all? It could be a linkage problem.

When you try to shift it into drive is it the stick that won't go into drive or does it shift to drive but not engage the transmission into drive? If the shifter won't shift it could be something bent before the transmission but if it does go into drive and the trans won't engage then that's the transmission. Check the trans fluid and make sure its full
