If you don't already have the cage then buy the Living World Guinea Pig resort starter kit. Petsmart should carry it. If you do have the cage then you need:
Bedding (pine shavings are cheapest but since guinea pigs make a big mess, Carefresh is best. Its more absorbant and hypo-allergenic),
Food (Make sure it says guinea pig, not guinea pig and rabbit as guinea pigs cannot make their own vitamin C and need extra in their food),
Chew sticks (to trim their teeth),
A metal or ceramic dish (they will chew a plastic one),
A water bottle (they just kick shavings into a dish),
Something for them to hide and sleep in, and
Treats!

Also, giving guinea pigs fresh oranges is not neccesary as long as you are feeding him the right food but it is a yummy treat!

Congratulations and good luck. Buy this at a minimum:

Cage, preferably two storied if floor space is a concern.... if the cage is wire with spaces large enough to put a finger through them, make sure there are a couple of things for them to lay on: a flat piece of untreated wood, bed, box, etc.

Hay: give them as much as you want.

Nutritional guinea pig food: give them about an adult handful per day... perhaps a bit more, not less.

A bowl for the food.

A water bottle that hangs on the side of the cage.

-----------OTHER----------

Fresh food is a good idea... untreated graass, dandelions, lettuce, sweet peppers, etc.

One more thing that very few people know: If you hang a small metal bell within reach of the pig and ring it every time you feed the pig, it will eventually learn to ring the bell when it is hungry... very useful. (This doesn't take a lot of effort, but may take several months for the pig to catch on if raised from a baby.)

Good luck.

Commercial pet stores which sell small exotics like hamsters and gerbils will often put together a 'starter kit' for first-time owners. This starter kit should include a basic cage, one bag of bedding, a small supply of pellet food, water bottle, food bowl, an exercise wheel and perhaps a toy or snack. Everything you need for the first week or so should be in the starter kit. This is an excellent way to make sure you have all the essential supplies, but pay attention to the brands of bedding and food pellets. Once they run out, it falls on you to find replacements that match.

okay you'll need a cage, water bottles, hay, food dishes, guinea pig food, a pigaloo, carefresh, toys, love, an assortment of fresh veggies and fruits, another piggie friend (it has to be the same sex),so it won't be lonely a small salt licker (it can some in a pack of 3 at petco), and a chew toy (fingers doesn't count) i think that's it.

your best bet is to get a list from your local pet shop. they always have lists of supplies needed for various pets. or you can go to petco.com or petsmart.com and check out their guinea pig section. or get a book about guinea pigs before you even purchase one.
