Is there a deadline in cashing a check that's been recieved?

Most banks will not accept a check written more than a year before

As far as I know there is not a deadline. If it is a personal check then you might want to do it as soon as possible because people like to know that the checks they have written have cleared the bank and if you save it for two years and then cash it it may make them have a negativ balance if they are not expecting that. If it is a payroll check then I don't think there are any deadlines.

Most bank have a dead line of 6 months to 1 year.
