Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
I started it years ago and I will finish it someday. It's a fascinating story but gets slowed down by these long diatriabes reflecting Rand's political/sociological (??) views. She could make her point without beating me over the head with it. I believe with all my heart that this book could impart an important message to me as well as entertain me with the story. I also think it is important because it is referenced in so often. I'd like to know what people are talking about when they say things like "Who is John Galt?"

As an aside, this question reminds me of the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. Thursday's grandmother can't die until she reads the ten most boring books ever written. She's 108 years old and won't be passing away anytime soon.

That's a hard question. I don't know. I don't think I've found that book. I'd want to read something that sums it all up. Maybe something I've written? The bible? A book of life quotes? I'm not sure.....
