Interesting question, here's some thoughts. Most anglosaxon countries are known to prefer their own faulty goods over foreign and better quality goods, this is a very strong sign of patriotism. Although when it comes down to the crunch they do have some sense, one example: the British police is NOT supplied crappy British motorcycles by their government, the American police does ride Japanese motorcycles and so on and on. I don't see the Scots as more patriotic than any other anglosaxons, if anything they allowed the Brits to take most of the reins to their country. The French and all the rest of western Europe are also very patriotic. Germany is now growing more patriotic than ever.
The Spanish can be nuts although there are some who'll find SOME faults. the most unpatriotic nation I know is Italy. Over there they wore Brazilian T-shirts soon after winning the world cup (!!!) and most people thinks that foreign is better.
I can't vouch for many others, the Chinese & Japanese are very patriotic, the latter perhaps a bit less than the former but they are following the germans in their recently found love for the nation.. The one nation I see as almost fanatical would be Ireland, I say this as I have never ever heard an Irishman slagging his country, whatever the topic is. Northern Ireland being the most patriotic.

Having lived and worked in China I would argue that the Chinese are the most patriotic because:
There is an intense pride in their country.
They genuinely believe that their country is the best in the world and generally can't believe that anywhere else could possibly be as good.
They have an unswerving faith in their politicians and the idea that they know what is best for them and will do whatever will make China great.
All the students I had in China wanted to do well to make their country great. It was quite refreshing to find ideals other than the wish for personal and material gain even though it could be a little scary at times.
National day is huge. They have: a national holiday, parades, songs, flags, parks planted up with red and yellow flowers, banners and of course fireworks.
They really are the most patriotic people I've ever come across. Far more patriotic than any American or Scot I've ever met.

Hard to say when I don't know the other countries and cultures. Would be easy to guess USA. But a lot of communist countries and those with dictators seem to be quite patriotic when seen from the eyes of others that is.

I always find the ones who shout about it loudest are the most bigoted, self centred, racist, and insular. Any country whose citizens take pride in where they live, work to make it better for others and respect the culture of their country and that of others are by far the most patriotic with out all the flag waving and I am better than you crap that other more "patriotic" nations indulge in.

I believe that it is a stupid question. Many countries have their long histories and their glory. And many countries have their people who gave their lives to the freedom of their countries. There are some periods when it is not felt but the feeling exists deeply in the souls of people.
