It should be legalized in the U.S. or at least decriminalized. It's ridiculous to send someone to prison for years for mere possession.

Okay, well...I'm 58 years old and have been smoking pot since I was 18. My husband is 64 years old and has been smoking pot since he was 21. We have 3 intelligent, productive and creative children with absolutely no health or behavioral problems. We both have held jobs with increasing responsibility and complexity. We have no particular health problems that can be attributed to smoking pot; I'm a diabetic, but that's because I was overweight for 20 years. I do the New York Times crossword puzzle each week. I can remember things that happened 25 years ago and also things that happened yesterday. The only people I have ever known who died from substance abuse died from liver problems associated with drinking alcohol and lung cancer associated with cigarettes. Oh, and by the way, the latest studies indicate that marijuana has no more of an effect on lung capacity and health than cigarettes do. Most of my friends smoke marijuana and all are active and healthy and intelligent people. Where's the problem?

First, you have already noted that most people are absolutely clueless. If ignorance and stupidity was a crime, most of them would be doing life without parole.
If you want to know where they got all that ignorance, you can read the beginning part of the explanation in the short history of the marijuana laws at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/whiteb1.htm It is funny and fascinating. Obviously some people still believe the stuff you will find in there.
Then you can find a collection of Reefer Madness through the ages at http://druglibrary.org/mags/reefermadness.htm The US Government has had an open and admitted policy of lying about marijuana since at least 1930. Lots of people still believe that marijuana can make your incisors grow six inches long and drip with blood -- as stated by the US Official Expert on marijuana.

THC causes the metabolism in lung tissue to slow down, and in minors it causes permanent spatial reasoning difficulties. There are carcinogens in marijuana smoke, just as there are anti-carcinogens in the smoke. Moderate use of "pot" in adults is probably not going to kill you, but it is NOT good for you. This isn't a matter of being closed minded - I don't make the rules.

I smoked pot for over 12 years and stopped a year ago. I have nothing against it at all, i just wanted to prove that i did not "need" it. I do however believe it is a gateway drug. I do think it's a hell of a lot better than alcohol! Everybody is different, and had different tolerances and behaviors. Adults can hopefully make good choices concerning their lives and bodies.

they've heard too many anit-marijuana speeches and can't think for themsleves any longer.
weed like anything else has bad side-effects, but can't stop coming in contact with things that aren't 100% poitive.
I wish marijuana would be legal. its no worse than alcohol or smoking physically, and I think its better mentally (I've met angry drunks but never mean pot heads)
it would also bring in some good money and save many lives since people won't smoke laced product.

Personally i'm not bothered by it!! I think it should be illegal because it does make everyday things more dangerous.... and if it was legal it wouldn't be as fun!!
People think smoking weed is wrong because its an addictive drug. but to me smoking it is a lot less bad than other drugs, and easier to quit.
It's a plant and is natural (most the time) so i dont see the big deal!!!
I think its bad if you smoke it morning noon and night (i know people that do that, n its their choice), but every now and again is fine.
(i'm gonna get heaps thumbs downs for this u watch!!)

I think it should be legalized, although I think the same rules and laws that apply to alcohol should apply to marijuana.(After all I wouldn't wan't to get on a plane being flown by a high pilot) It has some medical benefits, but also can cause problems. (Lung cancer and kills brain cells). I think a hell of alot more people die from alcohol though.

Ha. Vancouver's full of weed smokers. From what I saw, nobody seemed to mind and people there drink a lot less.
I don't think most people really care all that much.

here depending in what state do you live like California, there is a way out with the sole medical purpose.
But most people think it's bad and the ignorance mixed with cops paranoia talk about it as poison or sin probably
