the answer is 10 because if half of the people average 180, and the other half average 215, the total average weight is 197.5 pounds, so 10 people will weigh 1975 pounds, just under the limit...

The Answer is Undoubtedly C : 9

Because we have to calculate extreme possibility. If other Half people are on lift then it would be able to carry maximum 9 people of avg 215 Pounds. So max is 1935 Pounds and not more than that...

Ans Is : 9

n/2 * 180 + n/2 * 215 <= 2000
90n + 107½n <= 2000
197½ n <= 2000
n <= 10.12

Since n is an integer, the maximum value is n = 10

let number be n

Thus n/2 * 180 + n/2 * 215 ≤ 2000

ie 395n ≤ 4000

So n ≤ ~10.125

So maximum number = 10 ← Option D

n/2 * 180 + n/2 * 215 <= 2000
90n + 107½n <= 2000
197½ n <= 2000
n <= 10.12

so answer is (d).
