How do I set my laptop as a DHCP client?

Right click on network neighborhood, or go to control panel and click on your network interface.
In the properties under general double click Internet Protocols,
you will get the TCPIP network interface properties for your
ethernet interface and click on obtain ip address automatically.

Huh? You mean DHCP Server? ANY computer that obtains a dynamic IP is working as an DHCP client.

Most Linux Distros come with a DHCP Server. ANY Server based distro will come with DHCP daemon running by default.

Open up your networking adapter and to to Properties. Select TCP/IP Properties. Make sure it is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". Check the Advanced tab and it should state that DHCP is enabled.

a DHCP client is one who attains the address from a DHCP server... so you just go to control panel, internet connection, right click your connection and go to properties, go to the tcp/ip properties and click Dynamic.... then the server issues you an ip

Why are you no longer contacting your organization's IT help table? that's who you will desire to be telling all this too. each company's infrastructure, ie community shape is unique to that company. What would artwork for at one company won't artwork at a different company.
